The Family Man 2: 6 possible theories you might get to see in this Manoj Bajpayee starrer (Spoiler Alert)

Manoj Bajpayee starrer The Family Man had released in 2019 and has become an audience favourite ever since. Revolving around Srikant Tiwari (played by Bajpayee), a Senior Analyst in Threat Analysis and Surveillance Cell (TASC), the show takes you on an interesting journey where Tiwari tries to protect his country from a major attack while struggling to maintain a work-life balance. The show recently bagged a Filmfare award for Best Series (Critics) and Best Director (Critics) for Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, while Manoj got the critics choice award for Best Actor.

Anyone who remembers the show will tell you that it ended on a cliffhanger with Delhi under the threat of a chemical attack. Several theories about this climax have been doing the rounds since the release of the show but with The Family Man 2 about to release on February 12 we are sure all these questions will be answered soon. However, before that Pinkvilla lists down six possible theories that one would get to witness in the second season of this Amazon Prime show. So stick around.

Will Srikant & team save Delhi?

The last scene of The Family Man features Milind (Sunny Hinduja) trying to reach Srikant to inform him about the mishap at the factory, but the calls go unanswered as the latter has forgotten his phone in the office. This leaves them to deal with the problem alone in the factory, while a lid from a chamber goes off making the audience wonder if the attack was successful or not. However, if you go back a few scenes when Milind and Zoya (Shreya Dhanwanthary) find Vaibhav Therani’s (Yatendra Bahuguna) body, Milind asks his colleague to call for a back up after which the scene moves on to another location. Assumingly if Zoya had called for a back up, then their team is sure to reach the factory on time to save the situation. At this time, maybe Zoya’s engineering background (revealed in the first episode) could have also come in handy.

The theory that Srikant and his team manage to save Delhi can also be backed by an interview given by Raj. In a conversation with The Film Companion, he had revealed that they had another scene in place where TASC saves the day. However, they liked Shreya and Sunny’s performance so much that they decided to go ahead with just that scene for the climax.

Srikant, his family and friends a target in season 2?

You would get this hint if you remember the first poster of the show released on December 29, 2020. In the poster, you can see someone making a bomb while Srikant, his family and JK Talpade’s (Sharib Hashmi) pictures are placed on the desk and a gun in close proximity to the snaps. Wonder if Srikant and his close associates will directly be in danger this season.

Kareem’s girlfriend Jonali to make the big revelation?

Last season we saw that Kareem’s (Abrar Qazi) girlfriend Jonali (Sanyukta Timsina) finds out that the former was wrongly framed as a terrorist. Naturally, some repercussions to that will be shown in season 2 and we wonder if that has anything to do with Manoj going missing. Or is he removed from TASC? If you have seen the teaser you will know that Srikant’s wife Suchitra (Priyamani Iyer), his daughter Dhriti (Mehak Thakur) and Talpade are all trying to reach Srikant. In fact, Talpade even mentions ‘Pata hai yahan TASC mein bhi sab tere ko bahut yaad karte hai’ (do you know everyone in TASC misses you a lot), while Kulkarni (Dalip Tahil) informs him that a dangerous coalition is in the works and they need him. “Can I count you in?” questions Kulkarni.

Story moves to Sri Lanka?

The Family Man’s first season revolved around Pakistan, maybe this season the makers move to Sri Lanka. This can be assumed by a scene in the teaser where a Sri Lankan map is pinned on the board. Just there you also see a hazy picture of Major Sameer (Darshan Kumar) on the same board. Would he make a return in the second season as well? Wait for the show to release.

Problems between Suchitra & Srikant continues?

In the last season, we saw a budding friendship between Suchitra and Arvind (Sharad Kelkar). However, did it transpire into something more in that hotel room in Lonavala is not yet clear. Though in the teaser of The Family Man 2 we can hear Dhriti tell Srikant that she knows about the problem between him and Suchitra. “Iska Matlab yeh nahin ke aap gayab ho jao,” (this doesn’t mean that you disappear) she adds. This does hint at the fact that problems between Suchitra and Srikant may continue because of Arvind.

More on Samantha Akkineni

Last but not the least is the new inclusion in season 2, Samantha Akkineni. Nothing much has been known about the actress’s role as yet but going by the teaser it looks like her character is called Rajalekshmi Chandran. Her character apparently hails from Chennai and this information can be seen on the same notice board from the teaser. Her look has intrigued all her fans, and we are sure the admirers can’t wait to see her character unravel in The Family Man 2.

Well, these are all theories that we assume might be shown in season 2. However, to know what actually happens you must watch the show
