*SPOILERS ALERT* Viewers absolutely adored Lee Joon-gi's heartfelt performance of a complex character like Do Hyun-soo in Flower of Evil. It was also his chemistry with Moon Chae-won as Cha Ji-won that fans just couldn't get enough of. In a recent interview with OSEN via Soompi, the 38-year-old actor shared how it was because of Chae-won's portrayal as Ji-won that he was able to feel Hyun-soo's emotions more strongly.

Joon-gi also revealed how his Chae-won must be exhausted after playing such a complicated character like Ji-won as he quipped that he should buy her something delicious to help her recover because she's worked hard. As for which Flower of Evil scene stood out for him personally, Joon-gi chose the one where Hyun-soo realises his feelings for the first time and starts crying. Joon-gi confessed that he and director Kim Cheol-kyu agonised over the scene before it was filmed. They were left stumped over the particular scene and ended up talking for close to an hour during rehearsal.

The discussion was done in detail because if they failed to control the pace of the story and didn't convince the viewers, then Joon-gi felt that they would have ruined the entire flow of emotions that they had created so far.

There's one more pivotal and emotionally stirring scene that Joon-gi shed light on and that's when Hyun-soo is told that Ji-won has died. When he was wondering how to portray Hyun-soo, who had just lost Ji-won, Joon-gi thought of a howling beast that licks its dead child. Joon-gi wanted to portray his character's sense of loss as everything falls apart in the most primitive way of crying. Afterwards, Hyun-soo becomes a beast that can't be controlled.

"To be honest, several days after filming that scene, I had no choice but to film with my eyes swollen," the Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo star confided.
