Sunil Gavaskar has entered his name in the history of cricket by being the first ever cricketer to reach the mark of 10,000 test runs. He has played 125 test matches in his career and smashed 34 centuries and 45 half centuries with a batting average of 51.12. Gavaskar also led the Indian team as a captain on several occasions. His batting has been an inspiration to many and has encouraged a number of youngsters to follow his batting style and reach the path of success. He is known to be the man to have carried the Indian batting line-up from the front with his extraordinary abilities of converting the singles into doubles. Gavaskar later started his career as a commentator post his retirement from international cricket.

Legendary former Indian batsman, Sachin Tendulkar posted a picture of him with Gavaskar and tweeted as, “Wishing a very happy birthday to an extremely special man, whose passion for the game even to this day is an inspiration for us... just as his batting was! May God always keep you happy and healthy Gavaskar Sir.”

India’s opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan who was ruled out of the current world cup due to injury also wished the former cricketer. He tweeted as, “Happy birthday to the legend #SunilGavaskar Sir. May you have a wonderful year ahead..”

Cheteshwar Pujara tweeted as, “Happy birthday #SunilGavaskar Sir, have a great year ahead.”

Fans also poured in their wishes for the former cricketer.
