One of the most shocking moments this week, in the world of WWE, has to be the return of the one and only CM Punk. Ever since, his anything but an amicable departure from the wrestling company in 2014, the WWE Universe has been waiting for the wrestler to return in basically, any capacity! Finally, Punk is back and instead of making his in-ring comeback, the wrestler would instead be an analyst alongside hosts Renee Young and Booker T in WWE Backstage.

During an interview with ComicBook, AEW commentator and former WWE employee Jim Ross put in his two cents over the return of Punk to the world of wrestling. JR revealed that he wasn't entirely surprised as he thought that FOX would get the pay in line, something that Punk was looking for to work part-time. The wrestler also won't be going back to the WWE community at TV tapings and instead, be heading to LA every week. JR also confessed that he was offered to be on WWE Backstage but by then, he had already signed with Tony Khan and AEW and he's not the one for breaking his commitments and breaking his word.

"I'm glad to see him going back on TV. He's got a lot to offer. He's creative, he's smart, he's a great polarizing performer. He's a great talent, one of the best talents I've ever been around. Would I have wanted him to work for us? Of course, I would. We would love that too. But it wasn't in the cards right now and it may never be in the cards," JR added.

Furthermore, the legendary commentator added that an established wrestler like Punk needs to be a part of the "progressing landscape." Since the wrestler has made a lot of money and was smart enough to save it, Punk is under no financial duress and hence, should do things that he has fun doing.
