Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo wanted to KILL Iron Man long before the epic battle against Thanos?

Avengers: Endgame witnessed Iron Man aka Tony Stark's death. However, the Russo Brothers have now joked that if it were in their hand, they would have killed off Robert Downey Jr-essayed superhero character in Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Endgame featured the heartbreaking death sequence of Tony Stark. One of the pillars of Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iron Man died while defending the world from yet another deadly snap. While it was predicted that Tony would sacrifice himself to kill Thanos, but his death still broke our hearts in pieces. However, a new tweet from the Russo Brothers Twitter handle has Joe Russo joking about Tony's death. The Avengers: Endgame co-director recently took to social media to clarify a piece of fake news doing the rounds. 

A fake quote has fans believing that Russo appeared on Good Morning America and commented on Tony's death. The quote urges fans to believe that Joe wanted to kill off Robert Downey Jr's character because he was not fond of the MCU superhero. This led to Iron Man fans to call the director out and cause chaos online. However, Joe cleared the air with a joke, intending to lighten up the mood. 

He shared a screenshot of the quote and tweeted, "To set the record straight, this quote is completely fake. It’s an obvious falsehood, and utterly ridiculous." The account, which is shared by Joe and his brother Anthony Russo, went on to poke fun and added that if it were in his hand, he would have probably kissed Iron Man goodbye in Captain America: Civil War. "I actually wanted Tony dead in Civil War... #killtonystark #thetruthisout @RobertDowneyJr" he added. 

While it is a given that it was a joke at the fake statement, several Iron Man fans weren't pleased. They called the director out for his dig. Check out reactions below:

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 that the Russo Brothers directorial has collected $2.79 billion, surpassing Avatar's worldwide box office collection. Avengers: Endgame now holds the record of the highest-grossing movie of all-time.
