Avengers: Endgame saw many heartbreaking scenes, which left the fans thinking about their favourite characters. The sad sequences included Robert Downey Jr aka Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson aka Black Widow's death. These two brought tears in everyone's eyes. They sacrificed their lives to so that the other avengers could win and defeat Thanos in the ultimate fight in the movie. While, Tony Stark got the perfect ending with a proper funeral of the superhero. On the other hand, Natasha Romanoff was not served the same way.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, co-director Joe Russo explained that the decision to give Iron Man a funeral was made partially because Scarlett Johansson will return to MCU in Marvel Studios' Black Widow standalone movie. Russo said, “When you’re dealing with storytelling real estate in a three-hour movie, there’s only so much of it, and someone else has another film coming, there’s always the opportunity to bring closure in that other movie. In this movie, we had to bring closure to Tony Stark."
At the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, it was announced that Black Widow will have its own standalone movie in Phase 4. Black Widow’s release date will be the first of Phase Four, i.e May 1, 2020. "I feel like a weight has been lifted,” Johansson told Variety about the announcement. Avengers Endgame is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
