*SPOILERS ALERT* Back in 2008, we were introduced to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) with Iron Man, starring the one and only, Robert Downey Jr. No one could have imagined how one film helped catapult a decade-long journey, which culminated in 2019 with Avengers: Endgame. With Endgame, we saw RDJ for the last time as Iron Man. Tony Stark sacrificed his own life to finally defeat Thanos and save the universe. It was a heartbreaking sequence to witness and we are still not over it.

Having the same stance as millions over Iron Man's arc in Avengers: Endgame are the writers of Iron Man, Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Marcum stated, "It's sad, but it had to be that way." Art also stated that their main aim while writing Iron Man was to make it a good film, rather than become the predecessor for the MCU. They had to no idea of the stuff that was going to happen in the then-coming decade. They were just hoping that Iron Man was a good movie. "We weren't thinking about ten years and however many dozens of sequels there's been," he added.

Marcum concluded, "Really, you look back at that and you're happy that everybody has seen so many movies and have fallen in love with all these different characters that sprang from the MCU."
