It has been almost a month since Avengers: Endgame released. So don't call us out for spoilers. For everyone who has watched the movie, there are some brilliant scenes in the movie. Right from Captain America fighting his past self to Tony Stark's daughter telling Iron Man that she loved him 3000, Avengers: Endgame was a cinematic treat for Marvel fans. However, nothing tops the scene wherein Captain America called for the Mjolnir. The superhero, during his fight against Thanos, calls for Thor's hammer and leaves fans shouting, screaming, hooting and cheering. Just remembering that scene is getting us all excited. While we loved every bit of it, fans couldn't help but wonder why Captain America couldn't lift it in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

For those who don't remember (how could you not?) here's a quick recap: In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor challenges Iron Man, Hulk, Hawkeye and Captain America to lift his hammer. The Avengers try to lift the Mjolnir but fail. However, Captain America manages to move the hammer. This moment got fans wondering for years if Captain America was worthy of the Mjolnir. With Avengers: Endgame, the Russo Brothers proved that Captain America was worthy of the magical hammer.

But wait, why couldn't he pick it up in Age of Ultron? Turns out, Cap was being nice. Marvel head Kevin Feige revealed during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit that Captain America could lift the hammer but chose not to.

"We think he was always worthy and was being polite in Age of Ultron," he said.

This isn't the first time that the question has been addressed. In the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Joe and Anthony Russo revealed, "In our heads, he was able to wield it. He didn’t know that until that moment in Ultron when he tried to pick it up, but Cap’s sense of character and his sort of humility and sort of out of deference to Thor’s ego, Cap in that moment realizing he can move the hammer, decides not to".
