One of the most awaited films of this year was the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Avengers: Endgame. The film was a sequel to the Avengers: Infinity War which released in 2018 and showcased the biggest battle in the history of superheroes between Avengers and the Mad Titan Thanos. The film ended in Thanos winning and snapping his fingers wearing the infinity gauntlet which killed 50% of all living creatures. Avengers: Endgame showed the aftermath of that and also how the remaining Avengers got together to fight the mighty Thanos.

While the ending is known to all of those who have seen it, for many who haven’t the film ends at a point where Tony Stark dies. Now, since the spoilers ban has been officially lifted by the Russo Brothers, they appeared on a podcast and revealed a shocking thing about Avengers: Endgame. The Russo Brothers mentioned that Avengers: Endgame originally had a scene between Tony Stark and his teenage daughter, Morgan Stark. They revealed that the scene was cut from the final reel of the film as they felt that it didn’t resonate with the same emotional feel as they had wanted it to be.

By revealing this, the Russo Brothers confirmed the news about Katherine Langford joining the cast of Avengers: Endgame. They explained the scene and mentioned that after Tony snapped his fingers, he was to be taken to a metaphysical way station like Thanos was sent into after he did the same. There, Tony would get to see his daughter Morgan as a teenager. The Russo Brothers said, “The intention was that his future daughter, because these films are dealing with magic, his future daughter forgave him and sort of gave him peace to go. And the idea felt resonant. But it was just too many ideas in an overly complicated movie.”

Joe and Anthony revealed that Katherine didn’t have the same level of emotional association with the audiences as the others and hence, her scene was eventually edited after the test audiences’ reaction. The Russo Brothers said, “What we realized about it was we didn’t feel an emotional association with the adult version of his daughter. So it wasn’t ringing to us and resonating with us on an emotional level.” Thus, the final film didn’t have any scene featuring Katherine Langford. However, given that fans know now, they are hoping to see the scene on the official Blue-ray disk when it comes out.
