It's official, Sony and Disney have parted ways. Disney owned Marvel Studios was working with Sony Pictures for the Spider-Man movies. Their deal allowed Tom Holland's Spider-Man to feature in MCU movies. As a result, the British actor was seen in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame apart from two of Spider-Man's stand-alone movies. With the deal off the table, there are no chances that Spidey will cross paths with the X-Men, Fantastic Four or even Deadpool.

This development was initially leaked and began making the headlines on Tuesday before Sony issued a statement and confirmed their divorce with Mouse House. Hours before Sony shared their side of the story, Avengers: Endgame star Jeremy Renner took to Instagram to request Sony from pulling Spider-Man out of MCU. He shared a picture from the scene wherein Hawkeye obtains the soul stone after Natasha sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame.

He shared the photo and invoked Stan Lee while requesting Sony to give Spider-Man back to Marvel. He wrote, "Hey @sonypictures we want Spider-Man back to @therealstanlee and @marvel please, thank you."

Meanwhile, Sony issued a statement revealing that they were "disappointed but respect Disney's decision." Their statement read, "We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film. Praising Marvel head Kevin Feige, the statement added, "Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue."
