Demi Lovato promised to pour her heart out in her upcoming documentary Dancing with the Devil and she certainly does so. The four-part YouTube Originals docuseries, which is set to premiere on March 23, recently opened at SXSW film festival on Tuesday. The documentary is said to make some shocking revelations relating to Lovato's struggle with addiction and also detail the events of the night of her overdose. Apart from this, Lovato has also revealed that she is a sexual assault survivor in this tell-all docuseries.

Lovato has been in the public eye since she was a young artist with Disney and the now 28-year-old musician hasn't had it easy when it comes to her personal struggles. She is loved by her fans beyond measure and after sharing this intimate look into her difficult journey, Lovato is sure to get a bigger amount of support from her fans. The docuseries is known to have undergone a major change considering it was originally being filmed to capture her world tour in 2018, although it was eventually shelved following her near-fatal drug overdose.

Demi is a sexual assault survivor

In the ultra-personal docuseries, Lovato has also opened about being sexually assaulted twice. The songstress reveals for the first time that on the night of her overdose, her drug dealer "took advantage" of her, via People. Apart from this, Lovato also digs up a traumatic memory from her teenage as she lost her virginity in a rape assault aged 15.

Lovato isn't completely sober yet

Demi truly makes brave revelations as she speaks about her sobriety at the moment. As reported by People, Demi states that she still drinks and smokes weed but insists she has completely cut out hard drugs.

Lovato and Max Ehrich had taken everyone by surprise as they got engaged in July 2020 but only two months later, the songstress had called things off. Touching upon the events of her break-up and reasoning out as to why things didn't work out, Demi says, "I realized as time went on that I didn't actually know the person that I was engaged to", via ET.

The 911 call that saved her life

Revealing a detailed account of what happened on the morning after her overdose incident, Lovato reveals how her assistant saved her life with the timely 911 call. On July 24, 2018, Lovato’s assistant at the time, Jordan Jackson had discovered the singer’s immobile body in her bed and immediately informed the head of security and chief of staff Max Lea. Talking about how that 911 call changed her life, Demi reveals, "My doctors said that, like, I had five to 10 more minutes and had my assistant not come in, I wouldn’t be here today," via People.

Demi Lovato's bipolar diagnosis

In a segment of her docuseries, Demi also talks about her mental health struggle but states that she believes she was misdiagnosed of having bipolar disorder in 2011. The songstress believes that she was "acting out" as an 18-year-old and that it wasn't because she was bipolar, via ET.

These shocking revelations certainly show what a difficult life the singer has lived and her sheer honesty is what makes this docuseries worth watching. Dancing with the Devil is yet to premiere on YouTube and will soon be available to stream on March 23.
