The upcoming Hollywood film A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood is a story of television personality Fred Rogers. The film stars the Angels and Demons actor Tom Hanks as Mister Rogers. The highly anticipated film A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, will see Tom Hanks bringing a difference to the lives of many not just the kids. The film will see an investigative journalist given a task to write a piece profiling Mr Rogers. Now, as per the latest reports on the film, A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, the Forrest Gump actor reveals the reason he chose to do the film.

The Da Vinci Code lead star Tom Hanks spoke to CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King. During the interview, the Sully: Miracle on the Hudson actor states that during his grandchildren's birthday party, he met the director of the film A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, Marielle Heller. The reports also suggest that the Cast Away actor had indeed rejected the film. While talking during the interview on the CBS This Morning, the Saving Private Ryan actor Tom Hanks said that he spoke to the director of the film which made him change his mind about acting in the film.

The You've Got Mail actor Tom Hanks further adds that when he met the director Marielle Heller, he talked to her about The New York Times article about female directors. Marielle Heller who is known for her films like The Diary of a Teenage Girl and the Academy Award nominated film Can You Ever Forgive Me? said that she in fact featured in that very same article.
