Almost two months after it's release in US, Brad Pitt starrer Ad Astra is all set to take off in China in the first week of December. Post the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Once Upon A Time In Hollywood this year, Ad Astra was Brad Pitt's second release of the year. The film which opened to limited screens will now be releasing in China. Directed by James Gray, Ad Astra also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler and Donald Sutherland.

According to a report in Variety, Ad Astra will hit the theatres on 6 December in China and will face competition from two films on its opening weekend. Chinese director Diao Yinan’s 'Wild Goose Lake', which played in competition at Cannes in May and Chinese thriller 'The Whistleblower' will be releasing on the same day. Earlier, Pitt's film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood's release was indefinitely postponed after Bruce Lee’s daughter Shannon raised objection about her father's portrayal in the film.

Ad Astra revolves around Brad as astronaut Clifford McBride, who travels to space looking for his missing father. The film premiered at the 76th Venice Film Festival and has been receiving rave reviews. Pitt, in paticular, has been praised for his stellar act and is said to be an Oscar contender. So far, the film has earned USD 50 million in the US and raked in USD 127 million globally. The film, however, in India was featured at the Mumbai Film Festival and had limited screenings.
