Besides Avengers: Endgame beating Avatar (2009) as the most successful film ever made, 2019 was also about girl power thanks to the MCU's (Marvel Cinematic Universe) first female superhero led standalone movie, Captain Marvel. The Brie Larson starrer, which also starred Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law and Clark Gregg, crossed the coveted $1 billion mark at the global box-office. Carol Danvers' superhero avatar also played a huge role in Avengers: Endgame as she was responsible for bringing back Tony Stark, who was stuck in space, while also aiding the Avengers in the final battle against Thanos.

At the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, while Captain Marvel 2 was not a part of the MCU Phase 4 announcements, Kevin did share that the MCU flick was very much on their minds. However, recent developments speculate that Captain Marvel's fate in the MCU is hanging in the balance. There's no word yet on the sequel and when it will be in production, as even Brie is unaware of any developments. While talking to Variety, the Oscar-winning actress was asked about when she will be doing Captain Marvel 2, to which Larson stated, "No. I don’t really know what job I’m going to do next, which is very exciting. I don’t even know what my life’s gonna be!"

Furthermore, the Avengers: Endgame star was asked about the haters who did not want Captain Marvel to succeed as it was led by a woman character as well as the actress' take on "politics." Talking about how she was not aware of the fact that these "fans" made videos about wanting the movie to bomb, the 30-year-old actress stated, "I don’t have time for it, you know? The things that I have extra time to really look at are, like: Am I eating healthy food? Am I drinking water? Am I meditating? Have I called my mom today?"

"When you have a mission and things that you want to do — and my time and my energy is so limited — it just becomes so clear as to what I want to spend it on. And that’s just not what’s of interest to me," Brie added.
