Back in January 2019, WWE confirmed the rumours that Dean Ambrose was not renewing his contract post Wrestlemania 35. Many thought that this was a 'work' because it is very rare for WWE to openly address their wrestlers leaving the company. It was reported that Dean was unhappy with the creative team over his storyline since returning from his surgery, last year. Post the announcement, Dean was sidelined or kept losing match after match and was not even scheduled for a match at Wrestlemania 35.

However, the RAW after Mania, which took place today, Dean was scheduled for his last match ever in WWE. It was against Bobby Lashley, who lost the Intercontinental Championship to Finn Balor at Wrestlemania 35. However, before the match could even begin, Bobby taunted Dean by trash talking about his wife and RAW commentator Renee Young. Dean began beating Bobby up but Lashley had the last laugh and destroyed Ambrose at the ramp. Renee went to check up on him. Many found this segment confusing and wondered if Dean was really leaving as it felt like the start of another rivalry for The Lunatic Fringe.

However, after RAW went off-the-air, The Shield members Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns gave the perfect send-off to their brother. Seth and Roman got emotional as they spoke about how amazing their journey has been up untill now and that they were going to miss him.

The always unpredictable Dean kept things light and spoke about how his two favourite moments were to see Seth Rollins stomp Brock Lesnar's face at Wrestlemania 35 and to see Roman kick cancer in the butt. Ambrose also thanked the WWE Universe for their constant support and received an overwhelming pop from the hot crowd.

After hugging it out, The Shield did their trademark pose, one last time!
