Demi Lovato has stayed away from drugs and been sober for over a year after her fatal overdose last year. But the singer is currently mourning the death of her close friend who struggled with addiction. On Wednesday, Demi Lovato revealed on her Instagram Stories that her friend Thomas had passed away on Tuesday night, following a battle with addiction. Sharing a picture of her friend, Demi wrote, "Devastated. Please hold your loved ones tight. Tell them they are special and that you love them. Make sure they know it. RIP to my boo @sirtruss (heart emojis).”

Sharing the second photo, Demi urged her fans and followers to not treat addiction of any kind as a joke. She asked them to reach out for help when they need it the most. She clearly understands that the key to treating addiction is asking for help. Demi wrote under her friend's photo, "Addiction is NO joke. heaven gained this beautiful angel last night because of that terrible disease. I’m crushed and will always miss you @sirtruss. If you or someone you know is struggling please know it’s okay to ask for help."

For the unversed, the songstress was admitted to a hospital last year before her birthday after a fatal drug overdose. The singer underwent extensive rehab treatment and has now been sober for over a year. She recently sparked rumours of dating reality star Mike Johnson after they went out on a few dates after getting in touch online with each other.
