Disney and Sony's deal reached an impasse last month which resulted in Spider-Man leaving the MCU. The Disney and Sony deal allowed Marvel Studios feature Spider-Man in its movies. Up until now, Tom Holland's Spider-Man was seen in there Marvel Studios movies - Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame - apart from his standalone movies. Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures and Tom Holland reacted to Spider-Man's exit from MCU when the news broke out. However, a few days ago, a news report suggested that Sony and Disney are heading back into the discussion room.

However, the Mouse House doesn't have a lot of time to ponder upon. A new report now suggests that the Mouse House has a deadline of mid-2020 to reopen discussions and draw a deal with Sony. Insiders have told international publication We Got This Covered that Sony wants to start work on Spider-Man 3. The Mouse House or the Marvel Studios haven't addressed the rumours of a possible renegotiation. Nevertheless, these reports have our hopes alive about Spider-Man's return to MCU.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly at D23, Holland had assured fans that he will continue to play the Spider-Man. He said, "Basically, we’ve made five great movies. It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler."

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said, "I’m feeling about Spider-Man gratitude and joy. We got to make five films within the MCU with Spider-Man: two standalone films and three with the Avengers. It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that."
