Richard Madden is the latest entrant in the magnificently insane world of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as Ikaris, a powerful immortal alien. The Game of Thrones star will be seen in The Eternals, which also marks the entry of Angelina Jolie into the MCU, as Thena. The Eternals also stars Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee. It was at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 when the confirmed cast announcement was made by Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige.

Meanwhile, in case you were wondering when Richard found out that he was playing a Marvel superhero, his Rocketman co-star Taron Egerton revealed it all. It was at the MET Gala 2019, in May, which was attended by Richard and Taron. During the gala, Madden got a call from Marvel which confirmed that he was playing Ikaris. Egerton took to his Instagram page to share the MET Gala 2019 selfie with Richard after he found out the great news. Check out their throwback selfie below:

Taron wrote, "This was the moment we found out my mate had superpowers. Proud. Love you mate. @maddenrichard"

Meanwhile, Egerton got a ton of praises for his portrayal of Elton John in his biopic, Rocketman. Madden played Elton's ex-boyfriend and manager, John Reid in the Dexter Fletcher directorial.

Speaking of The Eternals, the MCU film is being helmed by Chloé Zhao and will hit the theatre screens on November 6, 2020.
