Hollywood actor Josh O'Connor opens up on how he got the science fiction film and talks about Steven Spielberg.
British actor Josh O’Connor is gearing up for the release of Disclosure Day, the upcoming science-fiction directed by legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg. The highly anticipated film features an ensemble cast led by Emily Blunt, alongside O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and Wyatt Russell. Ahead of the film’s release, the actor spoke exclusively to Pinkvilla about what drew him to the project and his experience of working with Spielberg.
On Disclosure Day's script
O’Connor revealed that reading the screenplay was an unusually quick experience for him, something he credits to the strength of the material. The actor shared that he typically takes several days to fully absorb a script, but Disclosure Day proved to be an exception.
The actor said, “I read it in an hour, which is really rare for me. I am very dyslexic so I usually have to set aside three or four days to absorb a piece of material, not just to read it, but to reread it and let things land properly. But I read it in an hour and it was amazing. Now let me be clear. I was always going to say: ‘Of course I’m doing this movie. You’re Steven Spielberg!’ But it was nice that the script was brilliant as well.”
Praises Steven Spielberg’s vision
Josh O’Connor was particularly impressed by the film’s themes and storytelling approach. According to him, Spielberg successfully blends thought-provoking ideas with an engaging narrative. He mentioned, “I loved how the story presents these ancient, fundamental questions about human existence and what lies beyond the limits of our current knowledge in the stride of a relentless thriller. What Steven does ingeniously is that he takes these timeless questions and makes them relevant to us in the here and now, and in a very entertaining way.”
