Game of Thrones fans got a lot of surprises in a span of just 48 hours. First, we learned that Game of Thrones runners DB Weiss and David Benioff are not helming the Star Wars trilogy. And now, news of HBO cancelling the highly awaited Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts is doing rounds on the internet. The news shocked many as the pilot was shot, however, things never picked up from there as it was not liked by the network.

Reports suggest that Jane Goldman, who was developing the series has sent out e-mails to the actors who were part of the series about the show getting shelved. However, after a few hours, reports of another Game of Thrones prequel called House of Dragon surfaced on the internet and the same has amped up the excitement again among the fans. As the name suggests, this prequel will focus on House Targaryen and will be about Daenerys' ancestors. It will be set 300 years before GoT. Ryan Condal and GoT director Miguel Sapochnik will be the showrunners, with Condal serving as the main writer of the series. Also, the show will stream on the  HBO MAX.

The GoT Twitter handle shared the news about the same. The handle wrote," #HouseOfTheDragon, a #GameofThrones prequel is coming to @HBO. The series is co-created by @GRRMSpeaking and Ryan Condal. Miguel Sapochnik will partner with Condal as showrunner and will direct the pilot and additional episodes. Condal will be writing the series." They also shared the new logo of the series. The difference between the now-canned prequel and House of the Dragon is that HBO has asked the makers of the latter to have just 10 episodes in the series. While the House of the Dragon is based on the book, there are no reports on how Martin contribute to this series. What are your views on the same? Let us u know in the comment section below.
