Game of Thrones fanatics don't have to wait anymore as the first episode of the final season is out. The eighth season has 6 episodes, and HBO will release each episode per week. The second episode will air on April 21. The filming of this upcoming season officially began on October 23, 2017. It took to the team almost two long years to prepare for the final show. If you don't have the time or strength to read a long summary, check out the 6 major highlights from the first episode of Game of Thrones season 8.
Here are 6 major highlights of Game of Thrones season 8 episode 1:
1) The reunion of all the Stark brothers and sisters, Gendry and Arya, Arya and The Hound, Tyrion and Sansa, will give you goosebumps for sure.
2) Tormund is alive! Yes, you read that right. At the end of season 7, fans thought that he died after the dragon destroyed the wall. However, he appeared in a sequence on the first episode.
3) Samwell Tarly tells Jon that he is not a bastard, but the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. He is Aegon Targaryen aka the rightful heir to the throne.
4) Jon Snow rides a dragon on his own, which is pretty huge and surprising. The fans have their own theories that he might kill the army of the dead riding Drogon.
5) Euron Greyjoy has finally won the heart of Queen Cersei as he brought Golden Company's ships to Kings Landing. Shockingly, Cersei tells Bronn to kill her brothers if they survive.
6) By the end of the episode, Jaime is seen arriving at Winterfell, where his eye catches Bran, who he crippled while he was a child.
