The first episode of Game of Thrones season 8 finally aired yesterday. The eighth season has 6 episodes, and HBO will release each episode per week. The second episode will air on April 21. Many memes about the first episode have been doing rounds on social media. The first episode basically marked the reunion of the main characters at Winterfell, including Arya and Gendry, the Stark brothers and sisters, Tyrion and Sansa and ofcourse The Hound and Arya. 
 
According to Entertainment Weekly, the first episode of GOT 8 was watched by 17.4 million viewers across multiple airings and including some streaming, entitling it as the biggest telecast in the history of HBO and the most-watched scripted entertainment programme of the year. Two years ago, the last episode of season 7 of the fantasy saga was watched by 16.9 million viewers. Therefore this year, season 8 has been marked as the highest rated one. 
 
In fact, the whole episode became so trending that it registered another record in its name. The speculations and theories on Twitter recorded 5 million tweets. Another show named The Big Bang Theory, had 14.1 million viewers holding the record of highest ratings previously. So, Game of thrones season 8 episode 1 has crossed all TRP charts.
