George Clooney played Gotham City's vigilante protector in the 1997 film Batman & Robin. And as per the actor's advice to co-star Ben Affleck, he reportedly told him not to do it. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, Clooney revealed that he learnt his lessons after playing Batman and it changed the way he approached roles. The 1997 film which was criticised severly by critics taught Clooney a thing or two about choosing films.

Clooney revealed he also gave Ben Affleck some advice on taking on the Batman role. "Don't do it," Clooney told Affleck who starred in the 2016 Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Batman & Robin, which also saw Arnold Schwarzenegger, tanked at the box office massively back then. Recalling his experience, Clooney said, "Schwarzenegger was paid, I think, 25 million dollars for that, which was like 20 times more than I was paid for it, and, you know, we never even worked together! We worked together one day. But I took all the heat."

He also admitted that he was no good in the film. "Now, fair deal; I was playing Batman and I wasn't good in it, and it wasn't a good film, but what I learned from that failure was, I had to rethink how I was working. Because now I wasn't just an actor getting a role, I was being held responsible for the film itself," Clooney told the THR.
