Golfer Tiger Woods hospitalised after car crash in California; suffers multiple leg injuries
US golfer Tiger Woods was taken to the hospital after a car crash in Los Angeles County. According to the Sheriff's department, the car crash resulted in “major damage”. Wood’s agent reached out to give a statement, in which he mentioned the golfer was the sole occupant and was removed from the wreckage by a team of firefighters and paramedics. According to the reports provided to the US media, Woods suffered “multiple leg injuries”. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck that injured the golfer.
Woods was taken to the local hospital by ambulance. A KABC-TV helicopter over the scene of Woods’ accident showed a car on its side with the hood heavily damaged. Airbags appeared to be deployed. The wreckage appeared to be just off the side of a road on a hillside. Wood’s agent, Mark Steinberg said, "He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support,". Fans have expressed their concerns over the shocking accident on various social media sites. The internet is taken aback by the incident and is hoping for the golfer’s speedy recovery.
Woods was in Los Angeles over the weekend as the tournament host of the Genesis Invitational at Riviera, where he presented the trophy. He was to spend Monday and Tuesday filming with Discovery-owned GOLFTV. The golfer has suffered several career-threatening injuries in the past. He recently underwent his 5th back surgery and revealed he was uncertain if he will be able to play at the upcoming Masters, which he last won in 2019.
