Raise your hand if you love Grey's Anatomy. The hit ABC show has been around for more than one and half decade. With 15 seasons down, the medical drama has seen several stars join and leave the show. We've seen them bond on screen as the chaos in a hospital unfolds for our entertainment. However, it seems like that wasn't the case off-screen. Ellen Pompeo, the face of Meredith Grey, recently revealed some stunning behind-the-scenes revelations and our jaws are touching the floor.

Speaking with Variety, the actress said that the first ten years on the sets of the show were "toxic." She recalls some "serious culture issues." She added that there was some bad behaviour on the sets. "The first 10 years we had serious culture issues, very bad behavior, really toxic work environment. But once I started having kids, it became no longer about me. I need to provide for my family," she said in the interview. "At 40 years old, where am I ever going to get this kind of money? I need to take care of my kids," she added.

The actress recalled how things changed for her and the show following season 10. "But after Season 10, we had some big shifts in front of the camera, behind the camera. It became my goal to have an experience there that I could be happy and proud about because we had so much turmoil for 10 years. My mission became, this can’t be fantastic to the public and a disaster behind the scenes," she said.

The actress also discussed the huge twist, killing off Derek Sheperd (played by Patrick Dempsey). "Shonda Rhimes and I decided to rewrite the ending of this story. That’s what’s kept me. Patrick Dempsey left the show in Season 11, and the studio and network believed the show could not go on without the male lead. So I had a mission to prove that it could. I was on a double mission," she explained. The character has come a long way since McDreamy's death.

There have been four new seasons. The show has been renewed for two more seasons. It goes to show that Ellen's efforts have paid.

I like watching Grey's anatomy but not Meredith Grey. I don't like her acting at all and I miss Derek Shepherd.
