*SPOILERS ALERT* Avengers: Endgame still has us reeling from the after-effects, especially in regards to the OG 6 Avengers (Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, Thor, Black Widow and Hawkeye). While Iron Man gave the ultimate sacrifice to destroy Thanos, Captain America thought about himself, for once in his life. After travelling back in time to restore the six Infinity Stones back to where they truly belong, Steve Rogers decided to finally have his happy ending with Peggy Carter.

The end sequence of Avengers: Endgame sees Steve finally getting the dance he deserved with Peggy. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hayley Atwell was asked about the surprise sequence that had everyone in hopeful tears of joy. The actress revealed that she and Chris Evans shot for the scene in 2017. Furthermore, when she was asked about her first reaction to knowing how Cap and Peggy's story ends in Avengers: Endgame, Atwell felt that it was a fitting end to their story and was "endearing, innocent and wholesome," in the way it kept those characters in the time.

"I thought it was quite beautiful and very tasteful of Marvel to finish this 10-year story in a very simple storyline about two human beings — and one of them doesn’t even have any superpowers. So, I thought the tone of it, to end there, after some extraordinary things of trauma, action, effects and powers… to just have two people slow-dancing was very beautiful," Hayley added.
