Hugh Jackman teaming up with Game Of Thrones makers for his next action feature inspired by The Overstory
Wolverine’s former star Hugh Jackman is taking on a producer’s role in his career next and taking on a Game of Thrones-adjacent action feature! The 52-year-old The Greatest Showman actor will reportedly executive produce a new series from creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss under their five-year USD 250 million deal with Netflix, which will be an inspired by the novel The Overstory.
The Hollywood Reporter summarised the plot of the book and explained that it’s a sweeping, impassioned work of activism and resistance that is also a stunning evocation of the natural world. It tells the story of a world alongside ours that is vast, interconnected, resourceful, magnificently inventive and almost invisible to us. A handful of disparate people learn how to see that world and are drawn into its unfolding catastrophe.
While Jackman is taking the lead as a producer, Richard Robbins will be writing the script, alongside Hugh, who is also a fan of the novel! With this project, Netflix marks their third project with GoT creators. The past projects have included The Three-Body Problem from Alexander Woo and half-hour dramedy The Chair, starring Sandra Oh.
If you missed it, back in July 2020, the actor celebrated 20 years of his film X-Men. on the 20th anniversary of X-Men's release, the Aussie star took to Instagram and shared a couple of photos and videos to mark the special day. Jackman shared a video from the training studio with the on-screen Wolverine fighting a Wolverine figure. The actor he revealed, "So here’s the thing. When the studio asked if I could be in shape to play #wolverine in 3 weeks ... I might over promised. But wouldn’t you have too?" He added, "Happy Anniversary X-Men universe. #xmen".
