International Men’s Day is celebrated every year on 19 November. The objectives of celebrating this are promoting gender equality, focusing on mens and boys health, improving gender relations, promoting male role models, celebrating their achievements and contributions in particular with their contribution to community, family, marriage and child care. The broader and ultimate aim of the event is to promote basic humanitarian values.

Jerome Teelucksingh, who revived the event, chose 19 November to honour his father's birthday and also to celebrate how on that date in 1989 Trinidad and Tobago's football team had united the country with their endeavours to qualify for the World Cup. Teelucksingh has promoted International Men's Day as not just a gendered day but a day where all issues affecting men and boys can be addressed.

Here are the 5 male characters from Hollywood TV series who show us continue to inspire everyone:

1] Peter Kavinsky from ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’

Peter Kavinsky is a definition of a gentleman. He respected Lara Jean, agreed to her contract, made her realise she deserved the world. To quote ‘You were never the second best…!’ Oh Peter you melted a lot of hearts.

2] Chandler Bing from ‘FRIENDS’

Chandler Bing who was the awkward yet sarcastic guy and made everyone fall for his sarcasm and his love for Monica. Chandler practically took care of his best friend Joey whenever he was in need; he even made a room in his new house for him!

3] Leonard Hofstadter from 'The Big Bang Theory'

Leonard was the guy who fell for a girl the first time he saw her, the nerdy, goofy, intelligent guy. He lived with Sheldon and everyone knew it was next to impossible to live with him, but he still lived with him because Sheldon saved his life and Leonard was grateful for that. Like Chandler from FRIENDS who took care of Joey, Leonard took care of Sheldon. He was there for his friends whenever they needed him.

4] Luke Danes from 'Gilmore Girls'

Luke Danes was in love with Lorelai Gilmore for years, but didn’t tell her because he didn’t want their friendship to get ruined. He loved Rory like his own daughter, he was protective of her; like every father, he disapproved of her first boyfriend and was there for Rory, when Christopher who was Rory’s biological father wasn’t there for her.

5] Alaric Saltzman from 'The Vampire Diaries'

The amazing History teacher who happened to be Elena’s stepfather took care of her and Jeremy when Jenna died, when Damon was in a parallel universe.
