Is Tom Hardy in talks with MobLand makers amid rumors of his exit from the series? Here's what we know
Tom Hardy's MobLand co-star Helen Mirren has publicly shown support for him amid buzz surrounding his exit.
Hollywood star Tom Hardy’s future in MobLand continues to dominate chatter after reports claimed the actor had been removed from the crime drama over alleged on-set issues. However, new reports now suggest that Hardy has not officially exited the series, and discussions are currently underway to resolve matters behind the scenes.
According to Variety, Tom Hardy remains attached to the project for now, with sources indicating that conversations are ongoing regarding his possible return for a third season. “Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively,” a source close to production told the outlet.
Guy Ritchie reportedly wants Tom Hardy back
The report further stated that filmmaker Guy Ritchie, who executive-produced and directed several episodes across the first two seasons, is believed to be advocating for Hardy to remain involved in the series.
“I’m sure Guy is probably pushing David Glasser to make it work. Guy likes working with Tom,” a production source shared.
Amid the growing scrutiny over Hardy’s alleged behaviour during production, co-star Helen Mirren appeared to publicly back the actor. The Oscar-winning performer, who portrays Maeve Harrigan in the series, posted a photo of Hardy on Instagram alongside a heartfelt message. She wrote, “Love you now and always,” Helen Mirren wrote, signing the post simply as “Helen.”
Last week, multiple international entertainment outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, claimed Hardy had been dropped from the series after two seasons due to tensions with executive producer, studio, and others associated with the production.
A report from Puck News alleged that Hardy was frequently late during Season 2 filming, often gave script notes, altered dialogue, and expressed frustration over the ensemble nature of the cast featuring actors such as Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan. Reports also claimed the actor was difficult to work with, and allegations stating he sometimes refused to leave his trailer for hours, delaying filming schedules and frustrating co-stars.
