One of the highly anticipated Hollywood releases of 2019 was IT: Chapter 2, which marks the continuation of IT: Chapter 1 (2017). IT managed to win hearts and broke box-office records by collecting $700 million at the worldwide box-office and becoming the highest-grossing horror film of all time. Based on the famous 1986 novel by legendary author Stephen King, IT: Chapter 2 is directed by Andy Muschietti while starring James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone and Andy Bean as the adult losers. Bill Skarsgård reprises his role of Pennywise.

While talking about the reception to IT: Chapter 1 and the release of IT: Chapter 2, Stephen revealed, "I had hopes for the film, but I was not prepared for how good IT was. I think the best vote of confidence for the second movie is that when the first movie ended with a title card that says, 'IT Chapter One,' audiences applauded. They wanted more. Now, they’re going to get the rest. It’s not a sequel; it’s the second half of one unified story."

Here are five reasons to watch IT: Chapter 2:

Introductory Dinner Sequence

What made IT: Chapter 1 work was the relationship between The Losers Club. Now, all grown up, the equation remains intact in IT: Chapter 2, irrespective of distance. The adult cast has done a tremendous job in sinking their teeth into these characters, made popular by the young stars Jaeden Martell, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Wyatt Oleff in the first installment. The dinner sequence, at the beginning, which marks the reunion of the losers, is a heartfelt moment. Alas, soon it turns gory, courtesy of the returning Pennywise! Whether it be Richie making fun of Ben or Eddie or them trying to remember their forgotten past.

Bill Hader is the MVP

While all the actors have done a superb job in bringing the adult Losers Club to life, just like Finn Wolfhard in IT: Chapter 1, Bill Hader's Richie steals the show and is the heart of IT: Chapter 2. Taking into account the narcissistic and always joking Richie, Bill's emotional vulnerability adds nuance to the troubled character. It's towards the last half an hour when Hader really leaves you glassy-eyed with his performance. All Reddie fans are sure to be hit right in the feels!

Meticulous Storyline

Andy Muschietti's direction and Gary Dauberman's screenplay in IT: Chapter 2 pays apt tribute to Stephen King's classic horror novel, IT. The storyline intersperses just the right balance between the young losers and the adult losers, without losing the overall plot. While the movie does reach the almost three-hour duration, the storyline progressively lures you in and leaves you with a befitting end.

Pennywise's Friends are Creepier Than Ever

You'd think Pennywise couldn't get scarier but leave it to Bill Skarsgård to baffle us yet again! Adding humane characteristics to the vicious clown, Bill makes the monster terrifying, on a deeper psychological level in IT: Chapter 2. But it's not just Pennywise who has come out to play! You have the old nan from Bev's childhood apartment as well as a young Stan, in the shape of an octopus to really get your freak on.

Scare-Filled Climax

Just like IT: Chapter 1, IT: Chapter 2 has its climax in the same place where the losers first defeated Pennywise, 27 years ago. The losers find themselves at the odds end when they have to face and overcome their inner demons, no matter how scary the outcome may be with Pennywise ready to float them away! The end definitely justifies the means in IT: Chapter 2.
