The past few weeks seem to have been flooded with discussions surrounding the royal family after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah. The explosive interview had everyone talking about it including the Last Week Tonight host John Oliver. Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Oliver spoke about why he found the Oprah interview not surprising.

The talk show host, who hails from Britain, spoke about knowing the royal family from a distance and stated that the "selling point" of the royal family is that it doesn't change. Speaking on The Tonight Show, he said, "As years go by, you realize that not changing is not entirely a good thing because that means the times might be changing around you and you are refusing to evolve. So I don't think they will change because I don't think they have the capacity to. But they obviously should."

Oliver, during his conversation with Jimmy Fallon, also joked about Prince Andrew being the only member of the royal family to be happy about it. For the uninitiated, Prince Andrew had recently come under fire for his close connection with the convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.

What's also to be noted is that not long after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview was streamed, an old clip of John Oliver warning Markle ahead of her wedding went viral. During his 2018 interaction with The Late Show host Stephen Colbert, Oliver had called the royal family, "an emotionally stunted group of fundamentally flawed people doing a very silly pseudo-job."
