Marvel movies have suddenly become a topic of grave discussion thanks to some recent digs by Oscar-winning director, Martin Scorsese. While promoting his latest outing, The Irishman, Martin has gone on record to say that he tried really hard to watch Marvel films but found them to be too "theme park" centric and "not cinema." While many celebrities associated with the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) hit back at the filmmaker, The Godfather (1972) helmer Francis Ford Coppola went the extra mile in showing his support to Scorsese.

"I don't know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again. Martin was kind when he said it's not cinema. He didn't say it's despicable, which I just say it is," Coppola had stated ruthlessly. Recently, in a conversation with CNBC, Jon Favreau, director of the first two Iron Man movies as well as executive producer of all the Avengers installments, was asked for his view on Martin and Francis' comments dissing Marvel movies.

"These two guys are my heroes, and they have earned the right to express their opinions. I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing if they didn’t carve the way. They served as a source of inspiration, you can go all the way back to Swingers... They can express whatever opinion they like," Jon shared with CNBC.
