She might be a part of the British royal family, but Kate Middleton is a doting sister to her siblings even after her wedding to Prince William. The Duchess of Cambridge has been there for her brother and sister, James and Pippa Middleton, every time they have needed her. The trio has been spotted together several times, standing by each other during milestone occasions. Now, James has revealed that the Duchess of Cambridge was there with him, and other family members, during therapy during his battle with depression, attention deficit disorder (ADD) and dyslexia.

The Middleton brother revealed he spent almost a year in cognitive behavioral therapy. Speaking to The Telegraph, James revealed that he was consulting a private psychiatric counsellor and a few sessions required his family to join him. "That was so important because that helped them understand me and how my mind was working. And I think the way the therapy helped me was that I didn’t need my family to say, ‘What can we do?’ The only thing they could do was just come to some of the therapy sessions to start to understand," he said.

The British businessman went on to reveal that he couldn't do anything during his battle with mental health illness. "I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t read a book, I couldn’t watch a film, I couldn’t eat," he recalled. He added that he found it difficult to talk to his family about this. "No matter what experience someone has, your family members are the hardest people [to talk to]," he said. He explained that since he was the youngest, it was normal for him to interact differently with his family and friends. "They are so tuned into you that they can see what other people can’t," he shared.

James recently popped the question to girlfriend, Alizee Thevenet after having dated her for almost a year and a half. James added that while he is aware he's not “got rid” of his illness, he is "pleased" to have gone through it, "because of who I am on the other side.”
