When the first reactions hit the internet, it seemed like The Lion King was going to get great reviews. However, it seems like that isn't the case. Jon Favreau's new directorial presentation titled The Lion King is a remake of the 1994 animated movie. The new live-action Disney movie sees Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. While the trailers are looking promising and the hype around the movie is also good. Earlier this week, the movie premiered in Hollywood and it was praised for its visual element and the restoring the nostalgia quotient.

While this got our hopes high, the first Rotten Tomatoes rating is painting a scary picture. The Disney movie has debuted on the platform with 58 percent. These ratings are a result of a total of 82 reviews so far. However, this rating will change depending on more reviews will come in. This is the third Disney live action movie that has released this year and it has not hit the Rotten note on Rotten Tomatoes. Dumbo sits on the site with 46 percent while Aladdin scored a 57 percent. The Lion King could change the picture as more and more reviews come in.

Meanwhile, the recently revealed reviews deemed The Lion King as "easily the best of Disney’s remakes." Another review also mentioned, "Whatever your feelings on Disney remakes, this one will blow you away." On the other hand, a reviewer also pointed out, "It’s a good Disney remake, but was it necessary? Maybe not, but it’s enjoyable." Another reviewer also said, "Did we need a live-action version of The Lion King? Maybe not… but this version is beautifully crafted by Jon Favreau…gives me all the feels on being back on Pride Rock."
