The Lion King: This is NOT the first time Shah Rukh Khan & Aryan come together to dub for a Hollywood movie
We are gearing for a trip down the memory lane with The Lion King. After Aladdin hit the cinemas last month, Disney is preparing to release yet another live-action movie in the form of The Lion King. The movie is the remake of the classic animated movie and it hits the cinemas in a few weeks. The Jungle Book director and Iron Man star Jon Favreau is at the helm of The Lion King. The makers have treated us with a spectacular trailer, a slew of mesmerising posters and have blown our mind away with their cast. However, Disney is showering Indian fans with extra love. The Mouse House recently announced that the iconic movie is going to be released in Hindi as well.
The production house recently announced that Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan have been roped in to voice over for Mufasa and Simba in the Hindi version of The Lion King. The duo dropped a subtle hint on Father's Day when they wore the Indian jersey with the two Disney characters' names on their back. Later, the production house confirmed that the father-son duo will go behind the mic for the flick.
While this is great news, let us tell you that this isn't the first time the duo will go behind the mic. SRK and Aryan debuted behind the mic back in 2004 for The Incredibles. Shah Rukh voiced for Mr Incredible whereas Aryan voiced for Dash. That's not all. Aryan and Shah Rukh were a part of the same film back in 2003. Aryan played a young Rahul (played by Shah Rukh) in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum directed by Karan Johar.
As for The Lion King, Shah Rukh issued a statement, "The Lion King is that one movie that my entire family loves the most and it holds a very special place in our hearts. As a father, I can totally relate with Mufasa and the endearing relationship he shares with his son - Simba. The legacy of Lion King is timeless; and being a part of this iconic re-imagining with my son Aryan makes it extra special for me. We are most excited that AbRam is going to watch this."
As for the international line-up, The Lion King stars Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Oliver, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, John Kani, and James Earl Jones have lent their voices to the characters of the film.
