Martin Scorsese surprised many when he revealed that although he really tried his best to watch Marvel movies, the films could never make a fan out of him. While talking to Empire, the filmmaker confessed that according to him these kinds of movies were more like a "theme park" and "not cinema". Martin's comments stirred a worldwide debate amongst MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) supporters and those that weren't. In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Scorsese stuck by his comments.

"Let's say a family wants to go to an amusement park, that's a good thing, you know. And at themes and parks, there's these cinematic expressions. They're a new art form. It's something different from films that are shown normally in theaters, that's all," the Oscar-winning director shared honestly with ET. Furthermore, Martin stated that his concern was with losing the screens to "massive theme park films," which according to him are their own new art form. For Scorsese, cinema is now changing with many venues and ways to make films which are enjoyable. While he thinks it's great to go to an event like an "amusement park," one should not crowd out filmmakers like Greta Gerwig, Paul Thomas Anderson and Noah Baumbach, in terms of theatres.
