It was in 1939 when we were first introduced to the era of Marvel Comics that would change the superhero game forever! With Marvel Comics #1, we were ushered into the fantasy world where extraordinary people existed with superpowers to boast about! From Captain America to Iron Man, from Hulk to Thor, from Black Widow to Hawkeye, the Marvel fandom was born and is still thriving, 80 years later. Since we are celebrating the 80th anniversary of Marvel, we are taking a trip down memory lane of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

It was in 2008 when MCU was formed with Iron Man and as the years went by, we got the Avengers. But, that's not all! With every film, we were introduced to new characters who helped shape the universe and even expand it for future phases. With Avengers: Endgame, we got the perfect swan song for the OG 6 Avengers and it also helped to beckon a new era, which would feature The Eternals, Shan-Chi, Blade, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight and more.

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Marvel, here are five heart-racing moments from the MCU:

Avengers Assemble for the first time - The Avengers (2012)

In 2012, for the very first time, we saw the Avengers being formed while setting aside their differences to defeat Loki and the Chitauri army. In particular, MCU fans will never forget the bridge sequence as the camera pans on the OG 6 Avengers. Even in Avengers: Endgame, when Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Ant-Man travel back to 2012, we get goosebumps reliving the bridge scene.

Team Iron Man vs. Team Captain America - Captain America: Civil War (2016)

What's worse than Avengers having to fight villains? Avengers fighting amongst themselves! Due to clashes in opinions about the Sokovia Accords, the Avengers are pitted against each other as Team Iron Man and Team Captain America. The airport fight sequence in Germany left us in awe as we saw old and new superheroes collide again or for the very first time.

Thor's epic 'Immigrant Song' entry - Thor Ragnarok (2017)

Taika Waititi gave a new lease of life to Thor in Thor: Ragnarok and with Led Zepplin's Immigrant Song as the background, Thor's entry as he becomes the ultimate God of Thunder against his sister Hela and her army is a sight to witness. Similarly, Thor's entry in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), along with Rocket and Groot had the theatre crowds going bonkers.

Captain America is worthy of Thor's Mjolnir - Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame had plenty of goosebumps-inducing moments such as the 'Avengers Assemble' sequence or Iron Man defeating Thanos. However, it was Captain America proving himself worthy by picking up Thor's Mjolnir that had hearts racing.

Spider-Man's identity revealed - Spider-Man: Far From Home

It may have seemed that Peter Parker was finally getting things right in Spider-Man: Far From Home. However, Mysterio had one last trick up his sleeve, with the assistance of the Daily Bugle's editor J. Jonah Jameson; Quentin Beck revealed the identity of Spider-Man to the world. We were shocked beyond belief, like how Peter felt in that moment.
