The Marvel Cinematic Universe introduced (and reintroduced) several Avengers into our lives. Marvel Studios began the MCU journey with six Avengers - Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man, Chris Evans' Captain America, Scarlett Johannson's Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Hulk played by Mark Ruffalo. As the stories branched out, we were introduced to several other superheroes, including Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Spider-Man. Undoubtedly, the new Spider-Man has become a fan favourite thanks to Tom Holland. But did you know, Hemsworth had something to do with it?

The Aussie actor, who will be seen in Men In Black: International this week, reportedly made a call to Marvel Studios to recommend Holland's name for the Sony-owned Marvel role. The actor eventually made his debut as the friendly neighboorhood Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. Who could forget him gloating over stealing Captain America's shield in the movie?

Hemsworth recently revealed that he worked with Holland on Heart of the Sea and put in a word with the studios. "I mean, look, we worked on In the Heart of the Sea together, obviously, then through Avengers and as they were casting him for Spider-Man, I did what I could do and made a call and said he's one of the most talented people I've worked with and has such a big heart and appreciation. I don't know, we have a great friendship, it's a good mutual respect," he told Entertainment Tonight.

We're glad that it all worked out in Holland's favour. Not only has he helped fans discover a new side to Tony Stark, he seems unstoppable as he's up for Spider-Man: Far From Home, releasing in July this year. Fans love his chemistry with Steve Rogers, Tony and Doctor Strange. Here's hoping he has another MCU crossover that fans could go gaga over.

Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
