The live action version of Disnye's beloved Aladdin made its way to the big screens this year in May. Starring Will Smith as Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as the stunning Jasmine, the film was an adventure to the young and old. The film went on to do good business at the global box office and put actors like Naomi and Mena into the spotlight. However, looks like it hasn't been all too rosy for actor Mena Massoud. The actor in a recent interview revealed that he has struggled to land auditions since the film's release in May this year.

Speaking with The Daily Beast, the 28-year-old actor opened up about how difficult it has been and that he hasn't even got a single audition.“I’m kind of tired of staying quiet about it. I want people to know that it’s not always dandelions and roses when you’re doing something like Aladdin. ‘He must have made millions. He must be getting all these offers.’ It’s none of those things. I haven’t had a single audition since Aladdin came out,” Mena said.

He added that he feels 'overlooked' and it might continue for a long time. "I feel like I’m going to be overlooked and underestimated for a long time because I am a young actor. I’m an up and comer in the sense that I’ve been doing this for 10 years, but to a lot of people, Aladdin’s the first thing they’ve seen me in. So I think I’m going to be viewed that way for a long time. I’m going to have to work at chipping away at that."

Saying that its's 'not always what you think' Mena added, “It’s wild to a lot of people. People have these ideas in their head. I’m not expecting you to be, like, ‘Here’s Batman.’ But can I just get in the room? Can you just give me a chance?
