The veteran actress Mira Furlan has passed away. The actress’ Twitter handle was updated by her team and stated that she had died just yesterday at the age of 65. The actress was remembered for her iconic roles as Deleen in the’90s series Babylon 5 and Danielle Rousseau on the 2000s series Lost. As the news was confirmed, the star’s pal and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski took to Twitter and paid his own tribute to the late star.

Joe wrote: “Mira was a good and kind woman, a stunningly talented performer, and a friend to everyone in the cast and crew of ‘Babylon 5,’ and we are all devastated by the news.” He added: “The cast members with whom she was especially close since the show’s end will need room to process this moment, so please be gentle if they are unresponsive for a time. We have been down this road too often, and it only gets harder.”

Mira was born in the former Yugoslavia and was a member of the Croatian National Theatre before she relocated to the USA in 1991. Soon after, in 1993, Mira was starring in the space opera television series Babylon 5 which she would star in for its entire 5 season run. In 2004, she landed a role in Lost, which told the story of a scientist who’d been shipwrecked on the show’s island 16 years before the crash of the Oceanic Flight 815. Furlan also appeared in films Beauty of Vice, Three For Happiness, In the Jaws of Life, and Emir Kusturica’s Oscar-nominated When Father Was Away on Business.

While details of how she passed away have not been revealed yet, Joe’s message via Twitter makes it clear that her “health was fading.” Mira is survived by her husband Goran Gajić and their son Marko Lav Gajić.

I am simply so sad about this and all the deaths this astonishing group of actors has had. My condolences for OUR loss. I've been doing some writing recently regarding "Comes the Inquisitor" about how, for something to be successful in the long term, the people at the top need to be the right ones, at the right time, and for the right reasons. I think about this a lot...
