New York Film Critics Online vote Joaquin Phoenix as Best Actor for Joker; Parasite named Best Film

Joaquin Phoenix was given immense love for his performance in and as Joker as he was voted Best Actor by the New York Film Critics Online while Parasite won Best Film as well as Best Director for Bong Joon Ho.

December 2019 doesn't just bring in the holiday season, but it also makes way for the award season as the best and brightest of Hollywood get honoured for their brilliant work throughout the year. 2019, in particular, has been a diverse range with some impeccable movies and acting performances. From The Irishman to Marriage Story, from Avengers: Endgame to Jojo Rabbit, from Joaquin Phoenix in Joker to Scarlett Johansson in Marriage Story, from Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers to Robert Pattinson in The Lighthouse, it's been a wonderful year for the movies!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Film Critics Online (NYFCO), which was formed in 2000, has unveiled its full list of winners in 2019 including a Best Actor win for Joaquin's brilliant portrayal in as Joker. Scarlett was unfortunately beaten in the Best Actress category by Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o, who won for Us. The Irishman was trumped by Bong Joon Ho's Parasite, which took home Best Picture and Best Director for Ho. The Top 10 Films according to the NYFCO are 1917, The Farewell, Hustlers, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Joker, Marriage Story, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Parasite and The Two Popes.
