Game of Thrones reached its monumental end after two years of waiting game. While fans were initially super excited for the final season of the iconic TV series, many were left disappointed with how things ended. And the majority of the blame was put on the showrunners and writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The GOT fandom went on an uproar and took things to the extreme when over 1.5 million fans signed a petition demanding HBO to rewrite season 8.

Many Game of Thrones cast members like Kit Harington and Sophie Turner have come out in defense of David and Dan. Joining the bandwagon is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister in GOT. While talking at the Con of Thrones, Nikolaj got candid about the backlash to Game of Thrones Season 8 and how it affected Benioff and Weiss. Coster-Waldau shared that he finds himself lucky to be a part of the show which the fans care about so much. The actor loves the fact that there was an online petition to have the final season rewritten.

"The only thing I’ll say is that for anyone to imagine or to think that the two creators of this show are not the most passionate, the greatest, the most invested of all, and to for a second think that they didn’t spend the last 10 years thinking about how they were gonna end it, is kinda silly," Nikolaj stated.
