Oscars 2020: Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker & 18 more films advance in the VFX category

Along with Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the movies as potential nominees for Best Visual Effects award at Oscars 2020 also include 1917, The Irishman, Ad Astra and Captain Marvel, amongst others.

Almost in the blink of our eyes, 2020 is promptly approaching! This means that we have to gear up for the awards season, which will sweep across Hollywood. Firstly, there is the coveted Oscars 2020, whose nominations will be out on January 13, 2020. The 92nd Academy Awards will be taking place on February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles. The makers of several blockbuster and critically acclaimed movies are already campaigning for their projects in all or most categories.

While we will have to wait for some more time before knowing which Hollywood movies have got the Oscars love, we now know the Top 20 films that have advanced in the visual effects race, according to Entertainment Weekly. These 20 movies will be dwindled down to 10 and eventually on January 2, 2020, the voting window will open which will determine the final nominees. According to Entertainment Weekly, amongst those in the running for a possible Best Visual Effects Academy Award nomination is Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, 1917, The Irishman, Ad Astra and Captain Marvel amongst others.
