Singer song-writer Rihanna took the internet by storm as she stood in solidarity with the farmers by sharing a Tweet about the on-going protests in India. Earlier this month, Rihanna’s tweet blew up on the internet and a series of #Indiatogether tweets started trending, it even caught the attention of the Indian government. The international star has once again stirred fury on social media with her latest post. RiRi took to her Twitter handle to promote her lingerie collaboration Savage X Fenty. The star received backlash for the picture as netizens rushed to the comments and informed her why the post was problematic.

In the photo, the pop star was seen donning a pair of purple satin shorts and accessorized her look with heavy jewelry. The star posed topless, covering her modesty with her hands. Netizens didn’t take long to notice the singer wearing a Lord Ganesha pendant. Rihanna received severe backlash on the micro-blogging site and Indian users have accused the pop star of insulting Hindu deities. Sharing the picture Rihanna tweeted, "when @PopcaanMusic said “me nuh wan ya wear no lingerie tonight fa me girl” @SavageXFenty" Fans also commented on how the act qualifies as cultural appropriation and that the photo is considered highly disrespectful.
