Back in October 2018, Roman Reigns appeared on Monday Night Raw to reveal that he was battling with leukemia for the past 11 years. The then Universal Champion had addressed the WWE Universe present in the arena, saying, "My real name is Joe and I've been living with leukemia for 11 years and unfortunately, it's back. And because the leukemia is back I cannot fulfill my role, I can't be that fighting champion and I'm going to have to relinquish my Universal Championship."

In 2019, Roman successfully made his comeback and is now stronger than ever! However, there were several fans who believed that Reigns' illness was just a 'work' for a WWE storyline. Addressing the naysayers, The Big Dog spoke candidly with Leukaemia Matters magazine about these fans' reaction. Talking about how media's perception of cancer may have led to fans being misconstrued about his appearance upon his return, Roman stated, "In the media, what we like to talk about is very controversial, that’s what we want to discuss. We don’t want to discuss the good moments or 'the wins.'"

"With my story and the help of my medication, and the medical breakthroughs that we have, I think it’s very important to understand that. We are winning some of these battles. There are very specific reasons why I am maintaining the look and the health that I have, and it’s important that people know that." Roman added.

We're glad that Roman Reigns is in remission and better than ever!
