Ryan Reynolds claims Deadpool 3 originally saw Merc with a Mouth and Logan taking a road trip: Rashomon style
With the intention to shed light on the importance of mental health discussion, Ryan Reynolds made a surprising claim about Deadpool 3. The actor, who plays the anti-hero in the franchise, is expected to return for a third movie. As fans eagerly await to hear a new development, even a possible announcement about the movie finally going on floors, Reynolds took to Twitter and said that the original plan for the Deadpool 2 sequel involved X-Men character Logan aka Wolverine.
The actor said Deadpool 3 initially featured a road trip with Logan and Deadpool in the vehicle. "Before Disney bought Fox, Deadpool 3 was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real," he said. For the unversed, the "Rashomon style" Reynolds refers to in the tweet is the 1950 Japanese movie by Akira Kurosawa. The story is narrated from different viewpoints via several different characters. If plans panned out as per Reynolds' said storyline, the on-screen road trip would have ended Deadpool and Logan's differing perspectives.

It’s critical to have open, honest and healthy discussions around mental health. By retweeting #BellLetsTalk you can make a difference. In case that’s not enough, before Disney bought Fox, Deadpool 3 was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real.

As for the ongoing Deadpool 3 plans, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige informed Collider that Deadpool 3 will be R-rated and the script is being worked on now. He added that the filming is unlikely to kick-off this year for Ryan has a busy schedule. "A very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life," he said.
