Sony CEO reveals having 'no specific plans' about Tom Holland's future in MCU post Spider-Man: No Way Home
Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman reveals Tom Holland's Spider-Man's future in the MCU after Spider-Man: No Way Home.
With Spider-Man: No Way Home's release date coming near, fans have been discussing Tom Holland's stay in the MCU and whether he would continue portraying the role of Spider-Man after the upcoming movie. Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman has answered the question about Holland's Spider-Man's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During his interview on the podcast Phase Zero, via Just Jared, Rothman explained that the partnership between Sony and Marvel will allow one more MCU crossover in which Tom Holland's Spider-Man has to appear where he would be put in the same world as the other Marvel characters. However, opening up further on the podcast, Rothman also said that they have "no specific plans" about his appearance in the MCU. "It's reciprocal. We lend one [character], then they lend one [character], and that's how Benedict Cumberbatch is in the movie, so we have one more lend back that is committed," the CEO revealed during his interview on Phase Zero podcast, via Just Jared.
Rothman also noted that the two companies "have a terrific working relationship" with "mutual hope." However, he added that no "definitive" decisions have been taken regarding the future. "The truth of the matter is we gotta ride this puppy and see what happens," Rothman revealed on Phase Zero, via Just Jared.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is scheduled to release on December 16 in India. Apart from Tom Holland and Benedict Cumberbatch, the movie also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau and Marisa Tomei along with old villains including Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx's Electro, Thomas Haden Church's Sandman and Rhys Ifans' Lizard.
