It's going to be an end of the year to remember as the highly-awaited Episode IX from the Skywalker saga will hit theatres screens in two weeks. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker brings back J.J. Abrams in the director's chair and marks the end to the beloved saga, that started 40 years ago. We will get to know how the lives of Kylo Ren, Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron will end as we get the final farewell, Skywalker style! Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac return to pen the final chapter and we couldn't be more excited.

One aspect from the sequel trilogy is that fans became major shippers of Finn and Poe as more than just friends. However, in a recent interview with Variety, Oscar diminished the hope of a possible romance by revealing that a Finn/Poe pairing will not be explored in The Rise of Skywalker. Isaac shared that personally, he hoped that the pair could have had a natural progression as a couple but it's not in his control. "But if they would’ve been boyfriends, that would have been fun," the 40-year-old actor shared.

On the other hand, John too shared the same stance and stated that Finn and Poe's relationship was quite loving and open. Hence, it would not have been weird if it was more than platonic, according to the 27-year-old actor.

According to Abrams, Finn and Poe's relationship is far deeper than a romantic one because of their willingness to be as intimate, afraid, unsure but bold, daring and brave as they are. While a Finn and Poe relationship may seem like a dead-end, for now, JJ did hint at LGBTQ representation in Episode lX. "And in the case of the LGBTQ community, it was important to me that people who go to see this movie feel that they’re being represented in the film," the 53-year-old filmmaker teased to Variety.
