The Winter Soldier and Black Widow of Marvel, Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson are joining Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne in The Batman Part II. The film is expected to release in October 2027.
Gotham City just got a massive, star-studded upgrade. In a move that has stirred a storm online, director Matt Reeves has officially confirmed the addition of some new actors to the cast of The Batman Part II. He recently welcomed Marvel icons Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson to the franchise.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, filmmaker Matt Reeves sent shockwaves by welcoming Marvel icons, Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson, into his gritty Bat-verse. Yes, you read that right!
The Winter Soldier and Black Widow are jumping ship from Marvel to DC, and we fans are absolutely into this legendary crossover. Reeves opened his arms and the Batman franchise for his new stars via a series of exciting social media posts.
Sharing a GIF of Scarlett Johansson, Reeves wrote, “Next exit, Gotham… Welcome.” Moments later, he confirmed Sebastian Stan's arrival by tweeting, “In a Gotham state of mind… Welcome.”

The Batman Part II director also welcomed Brian Tyree Henry (Joker, Eternals) and German actor Sebastian Koch, along with Charles Dance. The new cast members will join Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne/Batman, Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman, Paul Dano’s The Riddler, Andy Serkis' Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffrey Wright's James Gordon, and Colin Farrell's The Penguin, among others.
Reeves teased the sequel by dropping a picture of the Batmobile with the hashtag ‘#SnowTires’. The Batman Part II is officially set against the backdrop of a frozen Gotham winter.
While Reeves has been tight-lipped about the roles of the newcomers, reports suggest that Sebastian Stan will be seen as Gotham City’s new District Attorney, Harvey Dent. He will be joined by Scarlett Johansson as Gilda Dent, Harvey’s wife. As for Charles Dance, he could join the franchise as Christopher Dent, Harvey’s father.
With the script co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin officially locked, filming for the highly anticipated sequel is scheduled to kick off in the UK on May 29, 2026. Co-produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, The Batman Part II is currently eyeing a grand worldwide theatrical release in October 2027.
