The Odyssey is all set to hit the big screens on July 17, 2026. The film is based on the Greek epic Odyssey, authored by poet Homer. Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the epic fantasy is described as a grounded interpretation of Greek mythology, drawing inspiration from acclaimed historical films such as Andrei Rublev and Akira Kurosawa's Ran.

The Odyssey stars Matt Damon in the lead role, with Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Benny Safdie rounding out the ensemble cast.
The film also features Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Bill Irwin, Elliot Page, and others in key roles.
Matt Damon plays King Odysseus (known as Ulysses in Latin), the legendary ruler of Ithaca and the central character of the Odyssey. Following the decade-long Trojan War, he embarks on a long and perilous journey home, facing numerous challenges that keep him away from his kingdom and family for years.
Anne Hathaway portrays Penelope, Odysseus' wife and the Queen of Ithaca, who must navigate growing pressure from numerous suitors during her husband's prolonged absence. Tom Holland plays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus and Penelope.
Robert Pattinson appears as Antinous, one of Penelope's prominent suitors, while Lupita Nyong'o takes on the dual roles of Helen of Troy and her sister, Clytemnestra. Zendaya portrays the goddess Athena, and Charlize Theron plays Calypso, the nymph who plays an important role in Odysseus' journey.
The story of The Odyssey unfolds after the events of the Iliad, following the Greek victory in the Trojan War. It chronicles King Odysseus' long and difficult voyage back to Ithaca as he strives to reunite with his wife and son.
During his journey, Odysseus encounters Polyphemus, a Cyclops and the son of Poseidon. Their encounter sets in motion a series of events that prolong his return home and force him to endure years of trials across the sea.
Meanwhile, Penelope works tirelessly to protect her family and the kingdom while patiently awaiting her husband's return.
